These movie games usually are of poor quality as they expect sales regardless due to the brand. That said, I have no clue what you play with a 5 year old. Can’t go wrong with something with Mario usually. Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Party etc

Very nice article. I agree with you. Wow can be very addictive…but very fun. Luckily the extreme cases of WoW addiction don’t happen to everyone (or even most people). Don’t get me wrong, however, they can and do happen.

I’m in a bit of a strange situation, as TinyKing said…we play together! We are also very lucky to have a bunch of “nerd friends.” About half of our co-workers play too.

I’ve been in several guilds (depends on the character I’m playing at the time) and a few of them have even been strictly co-workers. The only true requirement to get in the guild was we had to know the person in real life. In a way, this can even bring you closer to people you already know and didn’t realize that you had much in common with.

I guess that all I’m trying to say is if you do start to play WoW, don’t separate yourself from the people you love (and the ones who love you). It is just a game. If you need to, go as far as to make an agreement with someone who cares about you; if they notice a negative change in you, that they will tell you and you will stop playing before you “get in too deep.” Just like with anything else, have fun but be safe.

I tried to make it clear in the last paragraph that WoW can be addicting and can become a vice. Again, some people can control it and some people do not. The article is meant for spouses and partners illiterate in the subject so that they know exactly what their companions are getting into before is too late.

Thanks for the article! I just wanted to chime in to say it IS possible to have an even understanding of yourself compared to the game and not spend your whole life playing. In fact me and the TinyQueen play together all the time!

I played Gamma World way back in the 70′s when our group needed a break from a MASSIVE 3-year D&D campaign. I rolled up my sleeves and rolled up a character… An Eagle. Mutation 1: Giant Wingspan. Mutation 2: Enhanced Vision. Mutation 3: EPILEPSY! (ROFL) To this day, I still picture this magnificent bird, soaring above a post-apocalyptic world, when lightning strikes, and he starts trembling like a hooker in church, plunging to his doom. Agreed….the game is NUTS!
